Well it couldn't have been a lot worse:
Eng 260, Aus 220/5
is it just me, or is it starting to resemble a match between the 4th and 5th best teams in the world?
Off to cope with the cold cold weather with an afternoon in a warm pub, lots of cricket talk and beer - hopefully not too depressing.

Well that was dissapointing...
... so, normal service resumed.
Let's just hope that the theory of whoever wins the first day wins the
series is a load of balls. Still - there's 24 days to go.
At least we competed beyond the 1st ball this time - it was the 3rd one where it
all started to go wrong - at this rate we might start winning in a few hundred
years.
Now what time is 'Murder She Wrote' on? At least that always has a happy
ending.
Bloody cricket

Oh yes...
the principle of drinking beers related to each venue - as is the stated aim of the blog - has obviously gone for a Burton. I'm sure that there are some nice Aussie beers, but if you think I'm going to stay up all night drinking Fosters or even VB then...
So will be attempting to recreate the joys of Australia by rubbishing everything English, watching Neighbours and getting a job in a London bar ;-)
It's alright - I can say these things at the moment - right up to the point that we put the Aussies in to bat and they rack up 130 by lunch (see - I'm still pessimistic by nature)

Wey-hey - 4 hours to go
is it wrong to be this excited about a game of cricket?
Got Thur and Friday off, just in case I fancy staying up, but given my sleeping habits, it's more likely i'll use them to catch up on the highlights.
Have cans of Coke and Red-Bull, but if it's anything like last time (Harmy's ball to 2nd slip), will be asleep before 1am....
But at the moment, it's still all to play for - the joy of anticipation as opposed to the disappointment of reality
